2014 Red Rhône Blends

2014 Buxom
100% Syrah
Paso Robles, California
168 cases produced

Jumping right up out of the glass! Buxom is always a favorite of and a show stopper in the Tasting Room. This wine is very fragrant and elegantly structured. Meticulously crafted from some of my best barrels hailing from some of the best vineyards on the Central Coast. A touch of rose petals, milk chocolate, and dark cherries comes together to pair well with the dusty tannins. A hint of cigar box rounds out the wine with a finish that seems to go on forever.

2014 GSM
40% Grenache, 40% Syrah and 20% Mourvedre
Central Coast, California
156 cases produced

This robust but teddy bear of a wine is aged in 30% new French oak barrels varying in size from 228L to 500L. This allows the freshness of Grenache to be highlighted while allowing the dark fruit profile of Syrah to shine. Loads of dried strawberries on the entry with a touch of clove and anise aromatics. Hints of dusty cocoa, char, and dark plum lead into a semi-sweet tannin finish.Decant for 1+ hours or open the night before. Enjoy 2017-2024.

2014 Single Vineyard Designates

2014 Bien Nacido Vineyard
100% Syrah
Santa Maria Valley
76 cases produced

At BNV, the cool weather allows the fruit to hang on the vine until optimal ripeness while still retaining wonderful acidity. This special micro-climate produces some of the most distinct and enjoyable cool weather Syrah on the Central Coast. Notes of raw meat and chocolate-covered blueberries aren’t a typical combination, but they meld quite well in the glass. With a lengthy finish of smooth tannins that grip the palate, this wine will age for many years to come. Drink 2018-2026.

2014 Euphoric
100% Grenache
La Vista Vineyard, Adelaida District, Paso Robles
76 cases produced

Old World bouquet meets New World flavors! For all of you Grenache fans out there this year we bottled up a 100% Grenache. With such low yields in 2014, our concrete vessel was just too large to fill. So back to French oak we went. Aged in 30% new oak, Euphoric reminds me of Old World french wine with it's earthy notes and bramble fruits. Yet, this wine still has that Paso Robles punch that we all expect and love with it's juicy red fruits and long lasting finish. Hailing from the limestone rich soils of La Vista Vineyard, Euphoric is always showing the best early on and this vintage is no exception. Decant for 1+ hours. Drink now through 2020.

2014 Law Vineyard
60% Grenache and 40% Syrah
Adelaida District, Paso Robles
97 cases produced

Classic jammy notes of red fruit and black fruits combined! Law Vineyard sits high on Peachy Canyon and is greatly exposed to the ever changing warm climate. The combination of hot weather and copious amounts of Limestone make this wine show well immediately. The tannin profile will smooth out with a decant and will most likely show even better the second day. Dried cherries, cigar box, clove, and vanilla always play a major role in this wine. Tasting great now but will continue to improve over the next 1+ years. Drink now-2021

2014 Russell Family Vineyard
90% Syrah, 5% Grenache, 5% Mourvedre
Willow Creek District, Paso Robles
99 cases produced

Farmed at one of the most difficult vineyard sites in Paso Robles, the Russell Family Vineyard blend is always consistent from year to year. The lack of available water and copious amounts of limestone really push the vines to create fruit that is deeply concentrated and rich in flavor. It very much reminds me of chewing on chalk as a kid but without the crunch! Notes of burnt espresso, chocolate liqueur, and a hint of green olive come through the glass wonderfully. This wine should age beautifully for the next decade. Drink 2017-2027

2014 Slide Hill Vineyard
100% Syrah
Edna Valley AVA
140 cases produced

Located in the cooler climate of Edna Valley in San Luis Obispo county, Slide Hill Vineyard is uniquely planted in a special micro-climate that is ideal for Syrah. Showing great mineral notes of limestone and clay, this wine has a pleasant streak of acidity which helps keep the wine fresh tasting. Elegance and balance always seems to be present in these cooler climate wines along with a silky finish. I find notes of blueberry, red raspberry, and a touch of espresso all playing well together in the glass. This wine should age well for the next 5-7 years. Enjoy 2017-2024
